In this section you will find information about good birding spots in Spain. We have started with a presentation of our favourite spots, and the list of site descriptions will get longer during the next few months. We hope that you will find the information useful.

The Ebro delta is the most important wetland area on the Spanish Mediterranean coast, and the second largest in the Iberian Peninsula. It is situated 200 km southwest of Barcelona as an extensive, flat marsh area at the mouth of the river Ebro.

Montsià is a small mountain chain situated between the Ebro Delta and the nature park of Els Ports. The mountains reach heights up to 900m and hold a wide variety of habitats and wildlife.

The Ports Nature Park is comprised of the Ports limestone massif; a large mountain chain with beautiful rivers, caves, gorges, and peaks well above 1000 m (Mont Caro at 1 442 m is the highest point).

The Monfragüe nature park, heart of the Cáceres province, is arguably one of the best birding spots in Europe and an essential part of a birding visit to southwest Spain. Raptors abound in this amazing area, where the rivers Tajo and Tiétar run through deep gorges.

The park is constituted by the interaction between the Mediterranean Sea and the two small rivers 'la Muga' and 'el Fluvià'. From the salty coastal lagoons by the seashore to the forested interior zone, Aiguamolls provides shelter for migrating, wintering and breeding birds alike, and it is an excellent birding area throughout the year.
